A Dream Place called Zadar in our sight and sound.

Zadar, Croatia
The Dream of places called Zadar, wander quiet streets of marble, enjoy good prices on hotels and set sail to pine-scented beaches on remote islands, where you can sprawl undisturbed alongside tiny konobas and find restaurants catering mostly to fishermen.

In comparing Zadar to Dubrovnik which is by far more popular than our subject matter, Zadar is a less tourist-trodden city that boasts many historic wonders on Croatia’s Adriatic coast. The smaller Zadar is considered the oldest continually inhabited city in Croatia, and although it has borne huge amounts of wartime destruction, it still offers a time-capsule of the region’s history. Among the architectural gems awaiting exploration are the bones of a Roman forum, medieval churches bleached by centuries of sunshine, and ornate civic buildings dating from the Renaissance. The old and new mingle here giving the city an irresistible attraction.

The Sun Salutation is a huge public art installation of 300 solar-powered glass plates built into the waterfront’s pavement. At dusk, a symphony of light begins, using the ocean’s currents as its conductor. And the light show is accompanied by a symphony of actual music emanating from the nearby ‘Sea Organ.’ Stone steps descending into the sea are fitted with a system of pipes and whistles that emit haunting tones as the lapping of the sea pushes air through them.

Coffee Bay, South Africa

Coffee Bay is possibly one of the most beautiful places along the coast of South Africa, a scenic place for tourist looking for an environment for lazing around on the beach, for hiking, and for fishing.  It is a countryside and has a small population.

The place got her name from a shipwreck in 1893, then a ship, fully loaded with coffee beans marooned on its coast and scattered coffee beans all over the village with some help from the plunderers, these coffee beans sprouted and the name Coffee Bay was quickly derived. Though some of the beans sprouted none survived in the salty soil. Still, the legend of the shipwrecked was enough to leave its mark on the bay for centuries to come and today the bay is still named after the event.

But as an alternative to searching for coffee beans and shipwrecks, it would be much more advisable if you were to head off to one of the many great opportunities abounding in the village environs like fishing, mountain climbing or hiking and many more fun things.

The village people of Coffee Bay speaks Xhosa, and graze livestock inland looking for pastures and have done so for many centuries, Nelson Mandela was also a Xhosa and possibly the most famous because he changed history.
